But how is a host city selected?
Why Turin, Italy?
Similar to the Olympics, a host city is chosen every three years for the FISM World Championship of Magic through a vote among all the FISM regional members.
Turin, Italy, emerged as the winning bid, announced in Quebec at the 2022 FISM World Championships.
But Turin is no ordinary city. Here, magic transcends the stage—it flows through the streets, resonates in the architecture, and weaves itself into the city’s rich history. Turin is a city of contrasts, where science meets mystery, and reason harmonizes with the arcane.
This unique blend of rationality and mystical charm makes it the ideal host for FISM 2025.
Is it Torino? or Turin?
Both names are correct, but they are used in different contexts. "Turin" is the English name for the city, while "Torino" is the Italian name. So if you're speaking or writing in English, you might say "Turin," but if you're speaking or writing in Italian, you'd say "Torino."
Explore Turin, Italy: A Place in Magical Lore
The city itself is steeped in magical lore.
It is said to form the apex of two of the world’s most famous magical triangles: the White Magic Triangle (alongside Prague and Lyon) and the Black Magic Triangle (with London and San Francisco).
Strolling through its streets feels like stepping into another dimension, where the boundary between reality and the supernatural blurs.
From the symmetrical Baroque palaces to the towering Mole Antonelliana, Turin’s landmarks whisper ancient secrets, embodying a history intertwined with the history of magic.
More Than a Magic Competition
FISM 2025 in Turin transcends being just a magic competition; it is a grand celebration of a city steeped in enchantment.
While winning a FISM World Champion Grand Prix title can be a life-changing milestone for any magician, this prestigious event is about much more than awards and trophies—it's about the artistry, passion, and community that define the world of magic.
Two BRAND New Competition Categories Added
The FISM World Championship of Magic continues to innovate and adapt to the evolving landscape of magic.
This year, the prestigious competition introduces two exciting new categories:
World Champion Online Magic: In recognition of the growing influence of digital platforms, this category celebrates magicians who perform and captivate audiences through virtual mediums.
World Champion Street Magic: Bringing magic to the streets, this category honours magicians who perform in public spaces and open-air environments.
These new categories highlight FISM's commitment to embracing diverse forms of magic and ensuring that every magician has a platform to showcase their unique talents.
As the magic community continues to evolve, these additions promise to bring fresh excitement and innovation to the FISM World Championship of Magic.
